Mohan Charan Majhi, born on 6th january 1972, in Raikala, located in the Keonjhar district of Odisha, is a distinguished Indian politician currently serving as the 15th Chief Minister of Odisha. Affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sri Majhi has been the elected representative for the Keonjhar constituency in the Odisha Legislative Assembly on multiple occasions since 2000. He is recognized for his significant efforts in supporting tribal communities and his prominent role within the BJP.

Personal Life of Mohan Majhi
Mohan Charan Majhi was born on 6th January, 1972 in Raikala, Keonjhar district, Odisha, India. Mohan belongs to the Santali tribe. Mohan’s father, Gunaram Majhi worked as a security guard. Sri Majhi completed his schooling at Jhumpura High School in 1987 and he completed higher secondary education from Anadapur College in 1990.

Mohan Charan Majhi pursued higher education at Chandra Sekhar College, Champua, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. He later acquired a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Dhenkanal Law College(Odisha). Before entering politics, Majhi worked as a school teacher at the Jhumpura Saraswati Shishu Mandir, part of a network of schools managed by the Rashtriya swayamsevak sangh(RSS) educational wing, Vidya Bharti.
Political Career of Sri Majhi
Mohan Charan Majhi started his political career as a village sarapanch, serving from 1997 to 2000. He also held the position of secretary of the tribal wing of the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 1997. Mohan was a member of the standing committee of scheduled castes and tribes. Mohan was elected to first time for Odisha Legislative Assembly from Keonjhar district in 2000.
Legislative Career Sri Majhi
Mohan Majhi was first elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Keonjhar in 2000 and again he elected in 2004. During his second term, he served as the deputy chief whip from 2005 to 2009. Although he lost the assembly elections in 2009 and 2014, he won again in 2019 at keonjhar. In his capacity as a senior BJP leader, he served as the party’s chief whip in the Odisha assembly from 2019.

In the 2024, Odisha Legislative Assembly election, Sri Mohan Charan Majhi was re-elected from Keonjhar, securing 47.05% of the votes. With the BJP secure a majority, mohan was announced as the next Chief Minister of Odisha on June 11, 2024. Mohan was sworn in as the 15th first BJP Chief Minister of Odisha on June 12, 2024, succeeding to the honorable 5th times india’s no 1 Cheif Minister Sri Naveen Patnaik.
